True Story Tuesday: You are beautiful

I saw a woman in a pretty sundress at Walmart the other day. When I saw that she had a newborn, I thought, “Brave woman” and looked back at her, checking out how the dress fit over her post-baby belly …. I wasn’t judging her or her body. I was thinking about all the times that I was too afraid to wear what I wanted because I was afraid that others would judge me.

You are beautiful because of who you are,
not what your body looks like
at this moment.

Man’s Real Power

Ursula Le Guin’s book, The Wizard of Earthsea was mandatory reading in school and had a profound impact on me; as a reader, writer, and even spiritually.  This powerful quote surfaced in my adult years and it made much more sense once I had lived its truth.

“The truth is that as man’s real power grows and his knowledge widens, ever the way he can follow grows narrower: until at last he chooses nothing, but does only and wholly what he must do …”

Wizard of Earthsea

What quote has affected your life the most?
