Man’s Real Power

Ursula Le Guin’s book, The Wizard of Earthsea was mandatory reading in school and had a profound impact on me; as a reader, writer, and even spiritually.  This powerful quote surfaced in my adult years and it made much more sense once I had lived its truth.

“The truth is that as man’s real power grows and his knowledge widens, ever the way he can follow grows narrower: until at last he chooses nothing, but does only and wholly what he must do …”
